The Michipicoten River is referenced in Lake Superior paddling literature but comprehensive canoe route documentation is limited. Described as a scenic Lake Superior watershed paddle, the lower river offers a day-trip ecotour experience accessible from the town of Wawa. The final 20 km provide excellent wildlife and scenic views of Lake Superior shoreline. Expect moderate paddling difficulty with beautiful granite and boreal forest surroundings. Water levels and seasonal conditions should be confirmed with local outfitters before planning.
