Data attribution

Every point of interest on CanoeMap comes from a source that publishes surveyed coordinates. Nothing is read off a scanned map. The counts below are generated from the data actually shipped with this build.

Points of interest

CanVec – Open Government Licence - Canada. 4,354 features. Natural Resources Canada. Hydro obstacles (rapids, falls) and ManMade leisure areas (campgrounds) from the 1:50,000 series. source
OpenStreetMap – Open Database License (ODbL) 1.0. 1,813 features. Map data by OpenStreetMap contributors, fetched via the Overpass API. source
Canadian Geographical Names Database – Open Government Licence - Canada. 437 features. Geographical Names Board of Canada, Natural Resources Canada. The national gazetteer, and the source of most named features here. source
Provincial open data – Open Government Licence - Ontario / Yukon. 5 features. Ontario Trail Network (LIO Open Data), Open Government Licence - Ontario. GeoYukon Transportation trails, Open Government Licence - Yukon. source

Where more than one source describes the same feature the records are merged into one point and every contributing source is recorded on it.
