Fenton-Treeby Loop

Easy

About

The Fenton-Treeby loop is a 16 km circuit through six lakes at the north end of Lake Superior Provincial Park, where the park meets the boreal forest. It starts on Fenton Lake, beside Highway 17 south of Wawa. The route crosses into Treeby Lake, circles through Junction, Underhill and Yanni lakes, and comes back through Treeby to Fenton. All 11 portages are 150 m or shorter, which is why Ontario Parks recommends it to novice trippers who would rather skip long carries. It fits in a day or makes a relaxed overnight at one of several campsites. Treeby Lake, with its pine-covered islands, is the scenic high point. Anglers can find lake trout, brook trout, walleye and northern pike. Camping requires a backcountry permit from the park.
