The Mallard (Sec) Lake access point is on Algonquin's east side near the Sand Lake Gate, which is 26 km up the Barron Canyon Road from Highway 17 west of Pembroke. From the gate, drive 2.5 km back east, turn right and continue 2 km to the lake. The access point serves a small cluster of lakes close to the road. Most of the area's campsites are on Sec Lake, and Mallard Lake has a single campsite reached by a short trail from the access road.
The difficulty of Mallard (Sec) Lake access point varies by section. Whitewater ratings are not exact: grades change with water level and season. Verify current conditions locally before you paddle.
