The Grand Lake – Achray access point is at the south-east tip of Grand Lake on Algonquin's east side, beside the Achray Campground. From the Sand Lake Gate on the Barron Canyon Road, drive 19.2 km west, then turn left for 4.8 km. Routes leave Grand Lake through Stratton, St. Andrews and Highfalls lakes to Brigham Lake and run down the Barron River through the Barron Canyon to Squirrel Rapids. Another route goes through Carcajou Bay and Spectacle Lake to Wenda Lake, the site of an old ranger cabin, which is also reached by a 3,620 m portage from Grand Lake.
