This remote 5-day loop accesses central Algonquin through Hogan and Crotch Lakes, noted as a premier route combining challenging portaging with exceptional wildlife viewing and fishing opportunities. The route features multiple majestic lakes (Hogan, La Muir, Burntroot) and mixed paddling through rivers and creeks. Access via Brent maintains lower crowding levels. The drive to Brent is long and rough but rewards paddlers with pristine backcountry experience. Spring offers outstanding trout fishing; fall brings gorgeous color displays.
