The Carrière Circuit (no. 35) is a 63 km loop in the central part of Réserve faunique La Vérendrye, rated intermediate by Sépaq and planned for four days and three nights. Launch at the Canimina or Nichcotéa campground and travel clockwise. Starting at Nichcotéa and finishing at the Carrière campground shortens the trip by about 25 km. There are nine portages: seven type A totalling 1.6 km and two type B totalling 185 m. The section between Lac Darcy and Lac Carrière is remote and sees few visitors. Ruisseau Carrière is the demanding part, with fallen trees, rocks, beaver dams and small rapids whose layout changes over the summer with weather and beaver activity, so plan on wet feet. Sépaq lists two Class I rapids. Sixteen designated campsites lie about 4 km apart, and the circuit must be reserved with Sépaq.
Carrière Circuit (no. 35), La Vérendrye is rated Intermediate. Whitewater ratings are not exact: grades change with water level and season. Verify current conditions locally before you paddle.
