The Poulter Circuit (no. 15) is a 45 km loop in the southern part of Réserve faunique La Vérendrye that Sépaq rates intermediate. Most parties take three days and two nights, and Sépaq says a four-day pace also works. You can start at the Le Domaine registration centre on Route 117 or at the Poulter campground, and the recommended direction is clockwise. Expect five portages: three type A totalling 740 m and two type B totalling 265 m. Sépaq's survey lists three Class I rapids, one Class II and one Class II-III. The route crosses large lakes scattered with islands, Jean-Péré and Poulter among them, and both become hard to cross in very strong wind. There are 21 designated campsites about 1 km apart, some on sandy shores, and the circuit has to be booked with Sépaq before you arrive.
Poulter Circuit (no. 15), La Vérendrye is rated Intermediate. Whitewater ratings are not exact: grades change with water level and season. Verify current conditions locally before you paddle.
The best time is Mid-May to late September (Sépaq canoe-camping season; registration centre open May 14 to September 27 in 2026).
