Réservoir Cabonga Circuit (No. 25)

Easy

About

Circuit 25 covers about 240 km of canoeable water on the Cabonga reservoir in Réserve faunique La Vérendrye, a few kilometres from Le Domaine. Sépaq rates it beginner level and leaves the itinerary open: paddlers put together loops or one-way trips of 2 to 15 days, in either direction, starting from Camping Cabonga or Camping Andou. The reservoir has sandy shores and many islands, with 46 canoe-camping sites spaced 3 to 10 km apart, and Sépaq also suggests it for sea kayak trips. Open water is the main hazard: strong wind raises big waves on the reservoir. When the water is very low, some passages between islands close. Sépaq publishes north and south maps and a GPX track for the circuit, and the trip must be booked before you arrive at the reception.
