Canawamamini Circuit (no. 37), La Vérendrye

Advanced Whitewater: Class II (one shallow rapid)

About

The Canawamamini Circuit (no. 37) is a 72 km loop on large lakes in Réserve faunique La Vérendrye, rated advanced by Sépaq and planned for five days and four nights. Launch at the Lac Camatose campground or the Whiskey River campground and paddle clockwise. The route has six type A portages totalling 2.6 km and one type B portage of 250 m. Lac Camatose has a deeply indented shoreline with many islands and bays. Lac Canimina has a sandy shore suited to swimming, and a small stream links it to Lac Camitogama. Sépaq's obstacle list is short: one shallow Class II rapid and a dam. The 13 designated campsites are spaced about 5 km apart, so daily distances run longer than on the short loops near Le Domaine. The circuit must be reserved with Sépaq before arrival.
