Algonquin Provincial Park

Smoke Lake access point

★★★⯨☆ 3.5

About

The Smoke Lake access point is at the northern end of Smoke Lake, reached by a short road south from km 14.1 of Highway 60, the same kilometre as the Canoe Lake access. Routes head south down Smoke Lake into Ragged Lake. From Ragged, the Devil's Staircase, a steep 590 m portage, climbs to Big Porcupine Lake. Longer loops continue through lakes such as Bonnechere, Phipps, Kirkwood and Harness, and some trips end on Highway 60 at Cache Lake or Lake of Two Rivers instead of returning to Smoke Lake.
