The Canoe Lake access point is at the southern tip of Canoe Lake, reached by a short road north from km 14.1 of Highway 60. Routes lead north through Joe Lake to Burnt Island Lake, to Tom Thomson Lake by way of Tepee and Littledoe lakes, and on through Otterslide Creek or McIntosh Lake to Big Trout Lake. The Oxtongue River flows out of Canoe Lake and can be paddled downstream to Oxtongue Lake, outside the park. The painter Tom Thomson died on Canoe Lake in July 1917.
