About

This 125 km one-way route links the Kinojévis River with the upper Ottawa River and ends on Lac des Quinze at Angliers, in Abitibi-Témiscamingue. You launch on the Kinojévis from a gravel ramp on chemin du Vieux-Pont Est, just south of the Route 117 bridge near Rouyn-Noranda, with free parking. The first 43 km follow the Kinojévis through Lac Vallet and Lac Kinojévis, then 33 km of remote Ottawa River lead to Lacs Simard and Grassy and finally 40 km of Lac des Quinze. The Rapides de l'Esturgeon are full of rocks and drop too steeply to run, so you carry around them on a maintained portage that was the main obstacle on the old travel route. Simard, Grassy and des Quinze can turn dangerous in strong wind; stay near shore. Campsites are scarce early on and plentiful later. Finish at the ramp on rue du T.E. Draper in Angliers, above the dam.
