The French River Eastern Outlet offers a classic lower-delta paddling experience with easy-to-moderate Class I rapids and numerous short portages navigable by novice paddlers. Located just 3.5 hours from Toronto, the route flows through scenic Georgian Bay delta terrain with hundreds of islands and rugged Canadian Shield rock formations, featuring dramatic landscapes across Wanapitei Bay and the Elbow. Best paddled May through September to avoid spring flooding and maximize pleasant weather; early June offers the advantage of fewer black flies. Access via Hartley Bay Marina or French River Supply Post provides convenient put-in options with abundant campsites.
