About

The French River system offers some of Ontario's finest canoe tripping, flowing 110 kilometers from Lake Nipissing to Georgian Bay through stunning Canadian Shield terrain. As Canada's first designated Heritage River, it features excellent campsites, friendly whitewater rapids, and multiple route options from 3-day trips to week-long expeditions. The river offers minimal portaging with most rapids runnable or easily portaged, making it ideal for paddlers wanting to experience wilderness without excessive carrying. The three-channel delta system provides endless route possibilities through pristine islands and waterways. Accessible year-round but best from May through September.
