Antrim Lake Canoe Route

About

Antrim Lake lies on the northern edge of Halfway Lake Provincial Park, on Highway 144 in the Sudbury District. Paddlers reach it from the east side of the highway, about 1 km north of the park entrance, where a marked access point and parking area sit at the lake's south end. Ontario Parks offers it as a day trip, and the provincial trail inventory maps the route at about 6 km. Tall cliffs rise along parts of the shore, wildlife viewing is good, and several secluded sandy beaches make good places to stop for a swim or a picnic. Paddlers who want to stay overnight can reserve the lake's single backcountry campsite, which requires an interior camping permit from the park gatehouse. The park rents canoes and kayaks.
