About

The Rouge-Annonciation section provides expert paddlers access to the famous Rapides des Italiens with 1.7-km of class II-III rapids that kick off an exciting 11-km day run. This mixed-difficulty route features easy portaging options alongside the P'tit Train du Nord cycle path, making challenging rapids more accessible. The river offers peaceful paddling sections with warm shallow water, incredible sand point beaches and even a historic covered bridge. Best enjoyed from late spring through early fall when water levels are stable, the section provides good access from the village of L'Annonciation. Multiple takeout options allow flexible trip planning for intermediate to advanced paddlers.
