The map draws the full river. This route covers a section of it; the description says which.
The Rouge Canyon section represents the river's final 10 kilometers where it enters a canyon and drops precipitously toward the Ottawa confluence, a cathartic spill of rapids and falls that has made it Quebec's most popular river for high-adrenaline whitewater rafting. During high water the Canyon section is used, while the Seven Sisters section is run during normal flow. Advanced paddlers face continuous class III-IV rapids with heart-pounding drops, while calm pools between rapids provide recovery time and scenic sandy beaches. Best season runs May through September, with spring offering the most challenging high-water conditions. Commercial rafting operations provide shuttles and safety support.
