The BC section of the Liard River offers world-class wilderness paddling through some of North America's most remote and pristine northern landscape before flowing into the Northwest Territories. This powerful river features mostly Class I-II current through diverse ecosystems including hot springs, deep canyons, and vast wetlands with exceptional wildlife viewing including woodland caribou, moose, and diverse bird species. The route provides an authentic northern wilderness experience with opportunities for natural hot spring soaks and outstanding fishing. Best season runs from June through August with challenging logistics. Access requires extensive planning with charter flights or extremely long road approaches through remote forestry areas.
