The Finlay River, a major tributary of the Peace River system, offers remote wilderness paddling through the rugged northern BC interior before entering Williston Lake. This pristine waterway features gentle Class I current through boreal forest and mountain valleys with excellent wildlife viewing including moose, caribou, and diverse bird species. The river provides a classic northern wilderness experience with minimal development and outstanding fishing opportunities. Best season runs from June through August when access roads are passable. Access requires long drives on forestry roads and the river journey typically ends at Williston Lake reservoir.
