The Skeena River, known as the 'River of Mists,' offers one of BC's premier big-water paddling experiences through the heart of the northern interior. This massive river system provides mostly easy Class I paddling with occasional braided channels and sweepers, flowing through diverse landscapes from mountain valleys to coastal rainforest. Wildlife is abundant including salmon runs, bears, and countless bird species, while First Nations heritage sites dot the route. Best paddled from May through September with peak conditions in summer. Multiple access points exist along Highway 16 from Prince George to Prince Rupert.
