About

The Lake Opeongo access point is at the south end of Lake Opeongo, 6.2 km up the paved Opeongo Road, which leaves Highway 60 at km 46.3. Opeongo is the largest lake in Algonquin Park, with North, East and South arms joined in a Y shape, and wind on its open water can be dangerous. The main portages at the north end are about 15 km from the access point. From the North Arm, portages lead to Happy Isle Lake and to Proulx Lake and the Crow River; from the East Arm, a route runs through Wright and Bonfield lakes to Dickson Lake.
