The Nashwaaksis Stream, known locally as the Nasis, is a quiet wetland stream on the north side of Fredericton that flows into the Wolastoq (Saint John River). The Wolastoq Watershed Paddling Network lists it as a 2.2 km beginner route, with the main launch at Mitch Clarke Park and other put-ins at Cityview Avenue and the Fredericton River Centre. There is little to no current, so paddlers can go either way: about 1.5 km upstream at normal summer levels before it turns shallow and rocky, or about 700 m down to the Wolastoq. High water opens an east branch that adds roughly a kilometre. The floodplain is wooded and undeveloped, with beavers and many birds. Paddling NB describes a 5.4 km return trip from the Johnston Avenue parking lot and warns of shallow side channels and slick, muddy banks. Farther upstream, the Nasis is a class II-III whitewater run in the spring freshet.
