The Leano Lake route is a shorter 4-day intermediate canoe loop within Woodland Caribou Provincial Park, starting from Leano Lake parking area about 90 minutes from Red Lake. This route features 25 portages with clear boreal lakes, narrow passages where moose sightings are common, and excellent opportunities for wildlife observation including eagles and turkey vultures. The paddling is intimate and scenic through connected lakes with short portages. Accessible by road shuttle or personal vehicle, this route is ideal for paddlers with 4-6 days available. Best paddled mid-May through October.
