Wolf River

Whitewater: Class II-IV (Class VI falls portaged)

About

This Kayak Yukon page reprints Yvonne Harris's Yukon News account of August 2, 2000, about a five-day trip by six paddlers on the Wolf River. The river leaves Wolf Lake, 80 km north of Teslin, and flows south into the Nisutlin River, with the take-out at Teslin. Moderate whitewater below the lake gives way to meanders after the Red River joins. Just below Caribou Creek, a Class IV ledge starts a whitewater section with Class III water leading, about 1 km later, to a 4.5 m Class VI falls. A 2 km portage on river left bypasses the falls.
