About

Obabika River is a celebrated four- to five-day loop combining serene lake paddling through Obabika Lake and intimate river navigation down the winding Obabika River, recognized as one of Temagami's most popular routes for novice to intermediate paddlers. Crystal-clear water with vibrant maiden-hair weed visible on the lake bottom sets the scene, while the river meanders through old-growth white and red pine forests with just one main rapid to portage and scenic oxbow lakes where moose are frequently spotted. June offers optimal water levels and wildlife viewing, though later summer requires care navigating deadfalls and logjams. Access is straightforward via Highway 805, and permits are required for Ontario Parks sections.
