The Nottawasaga River offers experienced paddlers a challenging and rewarding journey through diverse ecological habitats including the internationally significant 6,000-hectare Minesing Wetlands. This 121-km waterway features class 1-3 rapids, significant logjams requiring portages, and narrow, meandering sections that demand skill and attentiveness. The scenery transitions dramatically from swamp forest to sandy dunes and agricultural lands, with excellent wildlife viewing opportunities. Best paddled in spring through summer when water levels are adequate for navigation, though higher water can increase hazards. Access points are scattered throughout, with Wasaga Beach serving as the popular take-out destination.

Being crown land is not the same as being open to camping: a provincial park or conservation reserve follows different rules.
