Naskaupi River: Orma Lake to Seal Lake

About

Philip Schubert's solo trip of July 2005 followed the Naskaupi River about 150 km east and northeast from Orma Lake, beside the Smallwood Reservoir, to Seal Lake, and took 28 days. He reached Orma Lake by the Orma Dike road from Churchill Falls. The upper river has two large waterfalls, Isabella Falls and Maid Marion Falls. Below Maid Marion Falls, Jobs Portage, used by Mina Hubbard's party in 1905, covers more than 17 km of trails and lakes around a gorge. It begins with a 6 m climb up a crumbling cliff and took him nine days through forest, bog and burned country.
