The Moisie River via Lac de Mille is a legendary wilderness canoe expedition known as one of Quebec's most challenging and spectacular routes. Starting from the remote Lac de Mille accessible by train, paddlers navigate through dramatic granite-walled canyons with stunning waterfalls rising 3000 feet from water level. The route features Class II-IV whitewater rapids interspersed with calmer sections, including a notorious 1.3 km muddy portage. Access is via Quebec North Shore Railway to Lac de Mille, with takeout at Sept-Îles, best paddled during summer months when water levels are favorable.
