This scenic 100 km segment flows from Brunswick Lake through the Missinaibi River system toward Mattice, offering intermediate to experienced paddlers challenging whitewater with over 50 runnable rapids and opportunities to explore the Hudson Bay Company's historic fur trading post. The Brunswick River section features eight sets of class I-II rapids set against boreal wilderness and pre-Cambrian shield scenery. Access is remote, requiring either a long gravel road approach to Brunswick Lake or VIA Rail service; spring through early fall is ideal when water levels permit consistent paddling.
About 100 percent of this route lies inside Missinaibi Provincial Park.
Crown land free camping does not apply here. Provincial parks and conservation reserves set their own rules: designated sites, permits and reservations. Check with the responsible authority before you go.
