The Métabetchouane/Métascouac system offers a multi-lake wilderness circuit through the Laurentides Wildlife Reserve. This intermediate route connects Lac Métascouac with the main Métabetchouane River via a series of pristine lakes including Berthiaume, Néréides, and Goizel. Paddlers enjoy excellent fishing opportunities, scenic camping on sandy beaches, and stunning Canadian Shield granite landscapes. Access is through forestry roads from the Lac-Saint-Jean region, making this a true backcountry adventure best suited for experienced canoe trippers during the ice-free season.
