The Magalloway River flows from Aziscohos Lake to Lake Umbagog, offering diverse paddling experiences from challenging Class III whitewater in the upper sections during summer dam releases to peaceful flatwater and gentle quickwater through spectacular wilderness scenery. The 17.6-mile journey features stunning mountain views including Diamond Peaks, excellent wildlife viewing opportunities with loons, eagles, and moose, and access to the pristine Umbagog National Wildlife Refuge. Multiple access points allow for flexible trip lengths, with the Wilson's Mills to Umbagog section being most popular. The remote setting provides a true wilderness experience with minimal development along the shoreline.
