About

This intermediate 4-6 day loop connects Lake Lavieille, Dickson, and back via the notorious 5.3 km Dickson-Bonfield portage. The challenging portage is long but generally level and well-marked, crossing from the central interior toward Opeongo. The route offers excellent fishing, particularly in spring for brook trout. Scenery ranges from intimate river paddling on Crow River to expansive lake views. Access points and water taxi options from Opeongo make planning flexible. Best for solid intermediate to advanced paddlers planning logistics carefully.
