The Columbia River in BC offers spectacular big-water paddling through some of the most pristine mountain wilderness in North America, flowing north through the Rocky Mountain Trench before turning south into the US. The Canadian section features mostly Class I-II water with stunning Rockies and Purcell mountain views, passing through Kinbasket Lake and other reservoir systems. Wildlife includes mountain goats, elk, and diverse bird species, while the river provides excellent fishing opportunities. Best paddled from June through September when mountain access roads are clear. Access points exist near Golden and through various forest service roads requiring 4WD vehicles.
