The Du Sable – Caniapiscau – Koksoak route is one of northern Quebec's most challenging and historically significant wilderness expeditions. <cite index="21-1,21-5,21-11,31-1,31-5">The Du Sable is generally considered too difficult for average paddlers, but offers access to the incredible Eaton Canyon and flows into the massive Caniapiscau River system</cite>. <cite index="21-12,23-1,23-3,23-4,31-20">This route passes through steep and tumultuous rapids, wounded by dam construction but still wild and untamed, culminating in the wide Koksoak River - described as the most beautiful but physically most difficult trip by experienced paddlers</cite>. <cite index="28-13,28-14">Peak flows occur during spring freshet from May-June, with more manageable conditions in July-August</cite>. Access requires flying to remote starting points near Schefferville, suitable only for expert whitewater paddlers.
